Master puppeteer and puppetsmith Jhess Knight will conduct this exciting and practical two day workshop looking at all things puppets! Explore different construction and performance techniques, and storytelling devices under her expert guidance.
This course will cover the construction and performance of various puppetry styles such as shadow, strings, rods and glove puppets. Techniques you will learn will include the construction of joints and mechanisms, to manipulation and other art practices - skills that are useful across all puppetry disciplines.
The course will include some group work and devised performances where Jhess will offer her skills as a director and puppeteer.
There will be opportunities to look at and play with some of Jhess' puppet creations, and plenty of time to ask questions and experiment with new ideas!
Jhess prides herself in creating safe spaces where everyone can feel free to express themselves and have their voices heard.
