Wata Waetnanda invite the community to contribute to a commemorative display for National Sorry Day, 26th May.
National Sorry Day is a day to remember and acknowledge the Stolen Generations and to reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and our nation.
We are asking the Warrnambool and district communities to help create a commemorative display of hand-crafted purple flowers, to acknowledge and show our solidarity to the Stolen Generations on National Sorry Day.
The ‘Sea of Purple Flowers’ this year will be installed at the Warrnambool Library and will be on display from 26th May and right throughout Reconciliation Week, 27th May – 3rd June.
We encourage people to be creative and make their own purple flower designs using recycled materials!
You can also set up your own National Sorry Day purple flower display in your home, kinder, school, community group, business or organisation. Be sure to take a photo and post on your socials - just be sure to tag #watawaetnanda so that we can see it and share on here
