Great Southern Reef Discovery (12-17 year olds)

Come with us as we take a deep dry-dive into the wonders of the Great Southern Reef and uncover the hidden treasures of one of the world’s most vibrant marine ecosystems. This immersive educational experience takes you deep into the reef’s rich biodiversity, where you'll learn about its critical natural values, the unique species that call it home, and some of the challenges it faces. 

Located in the Pavilions downstairs 'The Bella' function room, and guided by Aurora Surf's lead facilitator and teacher of 20 years, you will engage with Great Southern Reef Foundations teaching and learning resources in a formal, interactive setting, supported by multimedia displays that showcase exceptional underwater footage of the reef’s colourful marine life and sponge gardens and a coloured take home learning booklet.

This experience is also designed to inspire, educate, and spark climate positive conversations around the reef’s conservation. We then move from indoors learning to outdoor play, incorporating what we have learnt creatively into our Beach Kite activity. Our passionate learners will transfer an aspect of the Great Southern Reef onto their Kites and then play with them as they take to the sky and fly.
