Decorative Dragons

Celebrate the New Year with a vibrant and playful dragon! Craft your own paper dragon with movable parts and decorate it in a style that reflects your imagination — making it bright and shiny or dark and mysterious.

Animal Keyrings with Macramé

With many animal shapes to choose from, decorate a keyring and create a beautiful macrame hanger so that you can attach it to a bag or hang it up on display.

Maritime Stamp Journals

Design your own maritime-themed journal using a variety of papers. Decorate it with stamps and pictures inspired by the local maritime environment. Capture what you see at Flagstaff Hill or illustrate the fascinating creatures that inhabit our oceans.

Miniature Lighthouses

Get inspired by the lighthouses at Flagstaff Hill and craft your own miniature lighthouse using paper and plastic cups. Highlight the significance of these heritage buildings as you design and create your unique shining beacon.

Hessian Embroidery

Sketch your design, plan your colors and patterns, and bring it to life by stitching with wool onto a piece of hessian using a simple technique

Decorated Lavender Bags

Learn about how lavender was used to treat illnesses and other ailments. Then decorate a bag to fill with lavender which can be used to freshen up your room or pop it under your pillow to help you get a great night’s sleep!

Scone Making

Mix, knead, and shape dough while discovering the simple magic of turning everyday ingredients into warm, delicious scones which can be enjoyed straight out of the oven, topped with jam and cream.

With his theatrical flair and entertaining interpretations, join Flagstaff Hill’s very well dressed storyteller as he brings the whimsy and excitement to every story he tells.

Marvellous Medicines

Be prepared for fun, surprises and lots of laughs with Dr Harrison; Flagstaff Hill’s very own Apothecary who will present an entertaining insight into the curious ailments that affect our bodies. (Suitable for all ages)

Are Volcanoes Responsible for Causing Shipwrecks?

Discover how volcanic activity that took place thousands of years ago, contributed significantly to many historical shipwrecks along the south west coast of Victoria. (Suitable for all ages)

CHILL ON THE HILL

Gather your friends and family for a relaxing evening of local music, great food and refreshing drinks in Warrnambool’s biggest waterfront beer garden.
Relax on the village green with a picnic rug or chair or chill on the wharf. If you’re feeling energetic join in with the Warrnambool Running Club 5km Fun Run which starts and finishes in the village. Register on the day from 5pm for a 6pm start.

 

DAILY ACTIVATIONS

Enjoy a Guided Tour:

Every day at 11:30am you can enjoy a guided heritage tour of the Flagstaff Hill maritime Museum and Heritage Precinct. Hear from one of the knowledgeable guides about how Flagstaff Hill and the impressive collection of intriguing artefacts came to be, and all about the stories behind treasures like the $4 million Minton Peacock statue. Tour suitable for all ages.

Stella Maris Tearooms:

During the summer school holidays our Tearooms are open daily between 10am and 3pm. Be sure to come in and sample our refreshing new summer menu full of delicious light lunches, cold drinks and the traditional favourites.  

Mrs Kuck’s Confectionery:

With jars of old favourites lining the walls, the village lolly shop offers a treasure trove of nostalgic treats to delight every one.

Tales of the Shipwreck Coast:

Nightly on dusk, Tales of the Shipwreck Coast takes you on a journey through the ages. Experience the ancient stories of the Gunditjmara People, the history of the local whaling industry, and the story of most notorious shipwreck on the Great Ocean Road, the wreck of the Loch Ard, all through light projections onto a nine-meter water wall.
