Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of conditions that cause a progressive decline in brain function, affecting memory, thinking, and social skills. It is not a normal part of aging, though it is more common in older people, and its effects vary depending on the stage and cause.
Key aspects of dementia include various causes like Alzheimer’s, symptoms such as memory loss and confusion, and a lack of a cure, although treatments can manage symptoms.
