Plant labels, books, and gardening conversations are full of botanical names, but many gardeners avoid using them because they can seem difficult to pronounce or remember.
In this relaxed and practical workshop, Chris Rockley, professional scientific illustrator, will demystify botanical Latin, explain why scientific names are so useful, and share simple ways to recognise, pronounce, and remember them.
By the end, you'll feel much more confident using plant names and understanding what they can tell us about the plants themselves.

About your instructor: Chris Rockley Chris Rockley is a professional natural science illustrator and nature educator. She specialises in nature observation, identification and ethnobotany. Chris has been an educator in Victoria and NSW since 2008. She often leads guided nature activities and walks that explore and connect people to wild places. These are focussed on helping people to see the unnoticed ecological wonders and honing observation skills. Creative outcomes and 'play' are often used.
